Wedding ~ Fiona and Steve

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

In July, I was lucky enough to be able to second shoot for Leela Bennett (leelabennettphotography.co.uk) whose work I really love. Fiona and Steve’s wedding was such a beautiful one and I was so thrilled I got to be a part of it. It all started at Upper Court in Kemerton, Gloucestershire, where the bridal party got ready, and was also the reception venue. It was a stunning location, with a number of cottages, a lake and beautiful landscapes on the estate.

Fiona and Steve were such a fun, adorable and lovely couple. It was so clear to see how in love they were, and I’m very thankful to them and to Leela for letting me be a part of it!

That morning, Steve received a surprise present from Fiona of one of their teddy bears which had a custom made suit to match his, done especially for the wedding, which was really sweet. Then Fiona (who was in the middle of finishing off her own wedding cake!) also received a surprise gift from Steve which were earrings that matched her engagement ring. They were such an adorable couple!

Their wedding ceremony was held at St Benet’s Church which was a short walk from Upper Court. It was a beautiful service as the ceremony was carried out by members of Steve’s family, one of whom actually resides in Watford and carried out my daughter’s Holy Communion lessons! Small world! Unfortunately half way through the ceremony, the electricity cut out, but it didn’t disrupt the service, although a couple of the guests had to pump the organ so the organist (also a part of Steve’s family) could continue to play! Members of Fiona’s family also sung a song and one of their friend’s played the violin.

After the ceremony was over, we walked back to the reception venue where the guests were treated to an English tea party with a game of croquet.

The reception continued in a marquee later that afternoon for their meal and speeches, before a jazz band played to get everybody up and dancing.

I was a second shooter for this wedding for Richard Lake of Tewin Green Photography. Richard has been somewhat of a mentor for me over the last year and a half, whilst I have been finishing my degree. He has allowed me to assist him at various photoshoots, and so I was very excited to be able to second shoot this wedding with him. The wedding was wonderful. The couple were so lovely, they had added us to their seating plan so we sat with the guests and were treated to dinner as well. It was a lovely surprise when we got to the reception. Their wedding was held at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Tottenham and the reception was held at Haringey Irish Centre, also in Tottenham.

This next wedding I am blogging is another wedding I was a second shooter for, but this time for the amazing Sue Lacey. Sue has been a believer in me from the start, and I am forever grateful to her for the work she has helped me get and the positive feedback she gives me. She was kind enough to let me second shoot for her at the Wilson’s wedding as well as assist her when the light began to fade. The wedding ceremony was held at Christ Church in Chorleywood. The reception was held at Moor Park Mansion House at the Moor Park Golf and Country Club in Rickmansworth. It was a beautiful day and these were my favourite images I had taken.

So I have decided to post some of my favourite photographs from different weddings I have done. The very first wedding I did was for Mr and Mrs Direnzo, and I was a second shooter for wedding photographer Bruno Medici. It was very insightful and interesting to work alongside someone who has been in the business for years and I was very grateful for this opportunity. The ceremony was held at Our Lady and St Vincent Church in Potters Bar, and the reception took place at the Papillon Restaurant in the Woodhall Arms in Stapleford.

Wedding Photographs

Now that I have my blog pretty much together, I’m going to upload a few of my favourite photographs that I have taken at previous weddings.

I injected blocks of colour amongst the photos, which was inspired by Sugar and Spice Photography whose work I really love and think it adds an extra element to the overall look.
